I was falsely accused of an extremely serious crime. I was petrified of what seemed like imminent jail time. After my first 40 days, my court case was post-poned. After the next 40 days, my next court case was post-poned again and when a final date was set, I got an agent to pray 40 days one more time. Just a couple of days before I was set to go before a very tough judge, the person who accused me gave a full confession. The charges were dropped, and my innocence was revealed. Why 40 Days at the Western Wall?
You may be wondering why 40 days is a length of time that has worked for so many people. The Rabbinic Sages taught in a number of places that praying for 40 days has a special power to arouse Heavenly compassion.
According to Jewish tradition, the Temple Mount is the holiest place in the world. It’s where the dimensions of Heaven and Earth meet, and where prayers go before ascending on high.
One of the leading Rabbinic authorities of the last generation (Rabbi Yisroel Yaakov Fisher) said that 40 days of prayer at the Western Wall is an especially effective way to make your requests.
Most people have heard about the idea of praying at the Western Wall for 40 days through word of mouth, as many people have been able to get married, have children, be healed of diseases, and receive financial assistance after engaging this practice.
How Our Program Works
When you sign up for our 40 Days of Prayer program, you will tell us what it is that you want us to pray for and make your tax-deductible donation of $95.
We’ll help you compose a prayer for you based on your request and email it to you so that you can also say it yourself, at the same time as your prayer partner is praying for you in Jerusalem.
Then, we’ll choose a Rabbi to serve as your prayer emissary. Your Rabbi will go to the Western Wall in person every day, no matter what the weather is like or how long the security line is. All of the Rabbi’s who participate in our program are known for their fine character traits, devotion, fear of Heaven, and deep wisdom.
You will also receive email updates as your 40 days of prayer are in progress and suggestions of positive practices you can try back home to help your prayers be answered.
Praying can be hard. You may be at a loss for what to say. You may doubt if your prayers are being heard. Or you may find it hard to remember to pray regularly. People who enlist a 40-day prayer partner find that it becomes much easier for them to pray, because they know that they have help, because they have made a commitment to prayer, and because we are there to support them the whole way through.
You might just get your heart’s desire. But if you just come away with a greater sense of closeness to the divine, and the merit of supporting a good cause, that’s already worth it!
